We start running our whitetail hunts in the last two weeks of October and hunt straight through the peak of the rut in mid-November. Expect real northern fall weather—below freezing nights and cool daytime temps. This is prime time, with bucks in pre-rut and rut, moving hard and covering ground.
We hunt over food plots, from tree stands and ground blinds. Ground blinds can be heated when needed. We still rattle, and when it works, it can be flat-out intense.
Nothing is set in stone. Deer movement changes, and we change with it. If you’re not seeing what we expect, we move you. Simple as that. Many of our long-time hunters stay on stand all day—because these are bush deer, not field-edge deer. They aren’t pressured and they move any time of day.
Most bucks taken fall in the 135–165 class, with the bulk around 150 inches. Every season we see 170-class deer, and it’s not uncommon to take bucks 185+. These are big-bodied northern whitetails, with live weights running 250 to 360+ pounds.
We take 4-5 hunters per week, and most spots are filled by return hunters. Success rates are high, and we don’t overbook.
